When completing a manual transmission swap with a Fisch Racing Tech Adapter Kit, securing a correctly fitted driveshaft is one of the final and most critical steps. Because custom chassis configurations and rear differential swaps vary, most custom builds require precise measurements to guarantee proper slip-yoke engagement and avoid premature bearing or drivetrain wear.
We offer select pre-made custom driveshafts engineered for popular application setups. For custom or unique chassis combinations, you can measure your vehicle following the steps below and contact us directly so we can provide a custom driveshaft for you, or take your exact dimensions to a local driveshaft shop.
CRITICAL PRE-MEASUREMENT REQUIREMENT: SUSPENSION AT RIDE HEIGHT
⚠️ MANDATORY: If your vehicle utilizes a solid or live rear axle, all measurements MUST BE TAKEN WITH THE REAR SUSPENSION AT FULL RIDE HEIGHT.
STEP 1: TRANSMISSION TAIL HOUSING TO DIFFERENTIAL FLANGE MEASUREMENT
This procedure applies to vehicles utilizing a slide-in transmission slip yoke (such as a Nissan CD009 / CD00A) connecting to a flat differential flange (3-bolt, 4-bolt, or 6-bolt).
How to Take the Length Measurement:
-
Locate the Transmission Oil Seal Face: Measure starting directly from the oil seal (which sits flush with the end of the transmission tail housing).
- DO NOT measure from the tip of the splined output shaft.
- DO NOT measure from any rubber dust boot.
- Extend to the Differential Flange: Measure in a straight line from the tail housing oil seal face to the flat mating surface of the differential flange.
- Record Specs: Write down the exact "Seal to Flat" measurement
Tail Housing & Oil Seal Identification Notes:
- Nissan CD009 / CD00A Transmissions: CD009 tail housings do not utilize an external rubber dust boot. Your starting point is simply the face flush with the tail housing oil seal.
- Side Note on Dust Boot Transmissions (e.g., T56 / T56 Magnum / TKO): Some transmission tail housings feature a rubber dust boot extending outward from the rear. Remember that this boot is only a flexible dust shield, not the actual fluid seal. On these units, measure from the metal oil seal face located inside behind the boot, or flush with the metal tail housing edge.
STEP 2: REAR FLANGE MEASUREMENTS
If your rear differential uses a flat companion flange (3-bolt, 4-bolt, or 6-bolt pattern):
🛑 IMPORTANT: ANY RUBBER GUIBO COUPLERS MUST BE REMOVED BEFORE MEASURING. Always measure directly against the solid metal flange surface.
-
Center-to-Center Bolt Pattern:
- Vertical Center-to-Center: Measure bolt hole center to bolt hole center vertically.
- Horizontal Center-to-Center: Measure bolt hole center to bolt hole center horizontally.
- 3-Bolt / Diagonal Spacing: Measure from center of pin/hole to center of adjacent bolt hole as indicated in the diagram.
- Centering Pilot Diameter: Measure the diameter of the center alignment pilot. Specify whether it is a Male OD (Outward Protrusion) or Female ID (Inward Recess).

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS & PRODUCT SUMMARY
- Adapter Bellhousing Architecture: Integrated precision-machined cast adapter bellhousings (not flat adapter plates). Ensures exact alignment from engine crankshaft center to transmission input shaft center to prevent input shaft bearing overload, premature wear, or vibration.
- Included Flywheel Technology: All Fisch Racing Tech adapter kits ship complete with a dedicated lightweight Billet Chromoly Flywheel(machined in-house in Canada), engineered specifically to pair with the adapter bellhousing as a unified swap system. (Billet flywheels are integral system components and are not sold as standalone universal products).
- Compatible Swap Transmissions: Nissan CD009 / CD00A 6-speed manual transmissions.
